JULY. 14 '04 Sometime earlier this year, both versions of AntiCristo (hardcover and softcover) went out of print. It took a while, but it's still an achievement considering its original incarnation as a fanzine. If anybody is still in contact with author Steve Fentone, let me know...
DEC. 22 '02 Happy Christmas to all believers and non-believers. It was a quiet year for AntiCristo. 2003 will possibly see an updated and revised edition of the book guilty Catholics love to hate (and love).
OCT. 8 '02 The softcover edition of AntiCristo has sold out. You can still purchase a limited hardcover edition at the FAB Press site.
JUL. 29 '02 Brit heavy metal magazine Metal Hammer published a short, off-the-cuff review of AC. Read it on the FAB Press website (top of the page). Buy a copy of our book while you're there, won't ya?
JUN. 23 '02
APR. 10 '02 Just a minor update to point to the new reviews up on the FAB Press website. The Black Star reviewer is quite...agog. Not much else happening in the AC camp for the time being. DEC. 17 '01 Yes I know it's been a while (see my latest cinejournal entry). Back in Tokyo and have not given up on a Japanese edition of AC just yet. Publishers have fresh budgets at the beginning of each year, so we'll try to convince one of them that AC should be on the slate -- whatever its final nihongo incarnation (picture book, anyone?) NOV. 06 '01 Posted a new review of AC that was featured in the first issue of the Toronto-based pub 'The Everything To Do With Sex Magazine.' The release coincided with the big ETDWS show at the CNE last month. AUG. 12 '01 Things have been very quiet in the AC camp as of late. "Holding" and "pattern" are two words that come to mind. August is a difficult time to do any business in Japan. It's the only month Japanese workers can take a "consecutive" holiday (which means more than one day off in a row). There's also obon -- a four-day long holiday/ritual where the spirits of the dead are welcomed back to spend some fleeting time with their living family members, and then waved goodbye to once again... The available copies of AC for sale on earth are dwindling, however. Check out the new, multi-currency, fully secure online shopping experience over at our publisher, FAB Press. JUN. 18 '01 AC has received it's first piece of Japanese coverage. Supreme movie-maniac and prolific author Kiichiro Yanashita reviewed AC for the incomparable cult movie magazine Eiga Hihou (trans: Movie Treasure). Please go to the media archive to see it. An accompanying translation will be up shortly. MAY. 13 '01 Another piece of U.S. coverage arrives. Old skool fanzine trooper Michael Weldon of Psychotronic Video weighs in with his take on AC. Please go to the media archive to read it! APR. 30 '01 The Fangoria review has arrived! This is really the first major coverage for AC in the U.S. and it's solid. Please go to the media archive to read it. Also, our first Japanese coverage will be seen in the July issue of the venerable HiHo Magazine -- Japan's number one gore/action/ exploitation/underground monthly. MAR. 28 '01 Finally, the links to our two television pieces are here. The first link is to the SexTV segment (see my Nov. 15 entry). The second is our segment on Daniel Richler's "The Word" (see my Jan. 06 entry). Special thanks to Stacey Case for creating the streaming media.
MAR. 22 '01 Taking small steps toward a Japanese deal...hope to have something locked and loaded by summer. Made a separate page archiving the reviews AC has garnered so far (see top of page). MAR. 19 '01 Two more AC reviews have come down the pipe: the aforementioned review in the U.K. raincoat crowd pub' Desire and an excellent, detailed review in Headpress. MAR. 17 '01 Finally received the interview/article that ran in the X-mas edition of Knave, the British adult mag. Please go to the media archive to read it. Also, the Fango review will be in the next ish' according to the Fangoria website (scroll down). MAR. 4 '01 There hasn't been much news lately so I decided to write this entry in style...on the plane to Japan (wish I had bought a cigarette lighter adapter, there's AC under my seat). I'll be working on licensing the Japanese rights to AntiCristo. So far we have four or five potential contacts...wish us luck! Ganbaru! JAN. 28 '01 Bizarre Magazine (in which there have been various ads for AntiCristo) has finally run their review of the book. Click here to read their irreverent take on AC! JAN. 20 '01 Today Steve and I did a radio interview on CIUT 89.5 (University Of Toronto Radio) with host Jessica Mendes. The interview lasted for about an hour and the topics ranged from the genesis of the book to patriarchal oppression to chastity belts. Look for streaming audio clips up here soon. More television coverage for AntiCristo! Well known Canadian author/broadcaster/producer Daniel Richler did a segment on our book for his new show "The Word" (currently on pay channel "Canadian Learning Television" (CLT)). Below are some grabs from the segment. | ||||
