Sometime earlier this year, both versions of AntiCristo (hardcover and softcover) went out of print. It took a while, but it's still an achievement considering its original incarnation as a fanzine. If anybody is still in contact with author Steve Fentone, let me know...

Happy Christmas to all believers and non-believers. It was a quiet year for AntiCristo. 2003 will possibly see an updated and revised edition of the book guilty Catholics love to hate (and love).

For the sake of completism, a link to AntiCristo's page on Amazon Japan.

Brit heavy metal magazine Metal Hammer published a short, off-the-cuff review of AC. Read it on the FAB Press website (top of the page). Buy a copy of our book while you're there, won't ya?

Was touring some Shinjuku video shops today with Mr. Jasper Sharp of the ever-informative Midnight Eye and saw copies of AC for sale at Mondo Video. Had heard AC was available in Tokyo, but hadn't seen it for myself.

Hope to go into a second printing late this year or early next, so if you nunspotters out there have any fair-sized nuggets of information or corrections, send them along and you'll be credited in the next edition.

Just a minor update to point to the new reviews up on the FAB Press website. The Black Star reviewer is quite...agog. Not much else happening in the AC camp for the time being.

Yes I know it's been a while (see my latest cinejournal entry). Back in Tokyo and have not given up on a Japanese edition of AC just yet. Publishers have fresh budgets at the beginning of each year, so we'll try to convince one of them that AC should be on the slate -- whatever its final nihongo incarnation (picture book, anyone?)

AntiCristo was on TV again (The Mike Bullard Show)! I didn't see it myself, but here's author Steve Fentone's recap of what aired:

...The latest installment of the Mike Bullard Show was on the box in the background. One of the guests was Daniel Richler, who came on to talk about his new digital cable channel, Book Television. Guess what video clip he used to illustrate his schtick?! They showed the whole intro bit in front of the church up until Richler mentioned my name, but then they cut away. Richler was obviously hoping they would show more, because he made some joke about if they hadn't cut it off so fast they'd have seen (quote) "a hot-looking babe in a nun outfit". I noticed that the clip had Book TV's disclaimer about "contains explicit material", etc, so maybe Bullard's director got cold feet. The studio audience was cheering, whooping and whistling all along! Richler never actually mentioned the title of the book other than in the old clip footage, but he made a few "off-colour" jokes about AC's contents ("it's got lots of pictures"), and how Bullard should take one home. Of course, Bullard leered and played along without ever really intending to pick up a copy. Naturally, although the book was visible in the clip, Richler didn't bother bringing one with him (we can't expect too much, after all).

Finally, Video Watchdog will at last weigh-in with their review of the book in an upcoming issue.

Posted a new review of AC that was featured in the first issue of the Toronto-based pub 'The Everything To Do With Sex Magazine.' The release coincided with the big ETDWS show at the CNE last month.

Things have been very quiet in the AC camp as of late. "Holding" and "pattern" are two words that come to mind. August is a difficult time to do any business in Japan. It's the only month Japanese workers can take a "consecutive" holiday (which means more than one day off in a row). There's also obon -- a four-day long holiday/ritual where the spirits of the dead are welcomed back to spend some fleeting time with their living family members, and then waved goodbye to once again...

The available copies of AC for sale on earth are dwindling, however. Check out the new, multi-currency, fully secure online shopping experience over at our publisher, FAB Press.

There hasn't been much news lately so I decided to write this entry in style...on the plane to Japan (wish I had bought a cigarette lighter adapter, there's AC under my seat). I'll be working on licensing the Japanese rights to AntiCristo. So far we have four or five potential contacts...wish us luck! Ganbaru!

SexTV episode featuring AntiCristo will show again this weekend at 11:30pm (EST) on CityTV and again on Sunday. If you missed it the first time 'round, check it out.

Also, the January issue of
Film Review Magazine (with Robert DeNiro on the cover) features a five-star review (see the Dec. 5 entry).
